This letter is of special significance in regard to our building project.
I was saddened when we needed to cancel our show this year because our plans were to construct a Club building with some of the proceeds from the show. However there is a plan B and we need everyone’s help in enacting that plan.
First let me explain what the plans for a building are. We would erect a 60×160 building on land acquired on January 10th of this year by the Upper Midwest A-C Club™. On one end of that building would be a 30×60 area that in the future would be a meeting room for Club activities. Utilities would need to wait for a while, however we could build out that area so it’s ready when that time comes.
As you know, we have one Club member who is willing to donate $100,000 towards this project and at our Fall meeting in 2018 a motion was made and approved for the Club to add $50,000 to that fund. In the mean-time the land purchase opportunity arose and the Club decided to purchase land rather than build on the fair-grounds (where we will never own what we build). As a result of the land purchase and the Show being cancelled, moving forward with construction would reduce the Club’s checking account quite significantly. I believe we would be better served if funds could be raised to assist with the building project.
